The Kirkland Neighborhood
Kirkland is located on the north shores of Lake Washington. It’s known for its waterfront parks, stunning views, art galleries, boutique shopping, and dining, and is home to about 92,000 people.
Kirkland takes its name from co-founder Peter Kirk, who partnered with newspaperman Leigh S. J. Hunt to found the city in 1886. Warehouse chain Costco was founded in Kirkland, and pays homage to its birthplace in its "Kirkland Signature" store brand.
